Recycling Junk
So are we! Currently we divert over 85% of everything we uplift from landfill. Here’s how we do it.
Our approach to recycling
When performing a clearance of a residence, garden, office, or any other commercial or industrial property, we always organize the items into various categories for different uses, such as:
- Recycling: metal (both ferrous and non-ferrous)
- Reuse: mixed dry recycling, electronic waste, and inert waste
- Waste wood/timber products
- Distribution to charity
- Diversion to biomass (energy from waste)
Djunk works closely with various local charities and community organizations, allowing us to give away items that can be useful to those in need. These items include clothing, furniture, toys, timber, metals, paper, and cardboard.
Increased Landfill Diversion
One of our main objectives is to decrease the amount of waste sent to landfills. This helps to decrease pollution and environmental impact.
We do this a number of ways:
We strive to minimize our environmental impact by only buying vehicles with low emissions, utilizing transfer stations with high recycling rates, and donating usable items. Our offices are designed to be paper-free and are furnished with recycled items from our office clearouts. We also meet regularly with The Scottish Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) to stay informed about any changes in regulations and ensure we are doing our part to protect the environment.
